According to new preliminary data released by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics, Maryland gained 4,700 jobs in June causing the unemployment rate to fall to an even 2%, the state’s lowest unemployment rate since 1976. (WMAR)

Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown is asking the state spending board for approval to create four positions to beef up his office’s investigations into sexual abuse by Catholic clergy. Brown’s request would add two assistant attorney general positions and two administrator positions, costing about $560,000, while eliminating five other positions. (Baltimore Sun)

A Montogomery County man is facing multiple rape and sexual offense charges after allegedly assaulting a minor on Thursday. The incident was reported at the 17700 block of Prince Philip Drive, when 31-year-old Joshua Black allegedly lured the girl into a wooded area and sexually assaulted her, police said.
