About Me

My name is Frank Strovel III and I was born in Baltimore. I moved to Tennessee when I was twelve but returned to Maryland for college (Towson State University) and work at the Baltimore Sun (1987-1993).

A return to Tennessee in 1993 found me working morning radio in the Knoxville area for the next twenty one-plus years (1993-2014).

All the while, I did newspaper reporting and maintained a blog (Left of the Dial) that saw some popularity at the time.

In 2014, at the age of 50, I decided to shake things up. I returned to Maryland and began a whole new career in the culinary field but my love of news, reporting and current events never left me.

After nine years working in Maryland, and just months after launching this blog as a news aggregator called Jouster, I made the decision to move to Texas. It’s a move that has been such a positive in my life but it has forced me to change the focus of this website.

After first moving here to Texas in September, 2023, I renamed this site South By Northeast and it was basically a personal blog chronicling my new life. Last summer, however, I felt the urge to focus again on local and state news and aggregate it like I did in Maryland.

Hence, The ATX Aggregator.

This site will post every single morning with a comprehensive look at area news, weather, sports, podcasts, videos, etc…everything in one place. Aggregated!

Notice the domain name is still “jouster.blog”. I like it. It’s short and original. I’ve decided to keep it for practical as well as sentimental reasons.

I hope you’ll find the site informative and handy in keeping up with all things ATX and Texas. My goal is to build an audience and make the site a known and respected source for daily news in the ATX media sphere.

You can also find me on X, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky and YouTube.

The site itself has profiles on X, Facebook, Tik Tok, and Bluesky.
