Races kick off beginning at 8:30 a.m. Thanksgiving, but road closures will begin prior — most around 7 a.m. or 7:30 a.m., as well as 3 a.m. closures slated along West Riverside Drive and South First Street.

The Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country announced the launch of its “Family Mental Health Care Fund” on Tuesday, which helps provide families who lost loved ones during the July 4 floods with mental health resources.
The Austin Disaster Relief Network is stepping up to support families affected by the devastating July floods and other disasters. The organization is providing Thanksgiving meals to those impacted, including more than 50 families who suffered from the floods and other disasters this year. (CBS Austin)
Thousands of slices of pumpkin pie were served on Wednesday at Austin’s H-E-B Feast of Sharing. The Palmer Events Center was packed with families, seniors, and anyone else wanting a free Thanksgiving meal.

A boil water notice was lifted Wednesday morning for West Travis County Public Utility Agency customers after it was initially issued on Tuesday.

Law enforcement arrested multiple people after more than $12,000 was stolen during a “shoplifting blitz operation” this week in North Austin.
According to Austin Police, 11 people were arrested and one citation was given after roughly $12,900 worth of stolen items was found at the Domain, Lakeline and Canyon Ridge areas. Police said they recovered the merchandise from Sunday, Nov. 23 through Tuesday Nov. 25.











A 39-year-old Houston man is facing “compelling prostitution” charges after he was arrested at a residence in east Round Rock Wednesday, according to the Round Rock Police Department.
Authorities in Hays County arrested a fugitive wanted on a slew of serious charges.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL: The Texas Longhorns pulled off a bit of an upset last night against at the Maui Invitational, defeating No. 23 North Carolina State, 102-97. Jordan Pope scored 28 points. Texas took fifth place in the tournament.
The ‘Horns are off until next Wednesday when they’ll host Virginia.

NBA: Reed Sheppard scored a career-high 31 points to go with nine rebounds and five assists, and the Houston Rockets rallied from 12 points down at halftime to beat the Warriors 104-100 on Wednesday night in a rematch from the first round of last season’s playoffs when Golden State won Game 7 as the seventh seed. De’Aaron Fox had 37 points and eight assists as the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 115-102 on Wednesday night in an NBA Cup group stage game.
Devin Vassell added 23 points for the Spurs, who kept their NBA Cup hopes alive.
