
According to Cpl. Matthew Nonweiler of the APD, 911 was called at 10:53pm by an individual who gave an address to a home in the 9800 block of Halifax Dr. they requested help and hung up.

911 attempted callback but nobody answered.
Austin EMS arrived on scene first and located an individual with obvious trauma to their body. They requested APD backup. They began measures to attempt to save the life of the person with trauma to their body.
APD arrived on scene and detained a second person. That person is considered a person of interest and is currently at APD headquarters awaiting interview with homicide detectives
Despite their best efforts, EMS was unable to save the life of the individual found with trauma.
This is being investigated as Austin’s 28th homicide of the year.
Several agencies responded and one firefighter was injured after pallets and trash caught on fire in Northeast Austin Friday afternoon.



One firefighter was treated on the scene due to a heat-related injury. No one else was injured in the incident.
One person had to be extracted from their car after striking a light pole Friday afternoon.

On the subject of Lady Bird Lake, crews will soon begin another round of spraying a clay mixture on the lake that removes phosphorus, which feeds the toxic blue-green algae, from the water.

At least 38 bodies have been found in or around Lady Bird Lake since 2022.
Of those, 30 were male, and just over 60 percent were between 30 and 49 years old. Only two were teenagers, including the most recent body that was found on June 3.
A suspicious package reported in Hays County turned out to be a false alarm.

Last year, Texas had more active shooter incidents than any other state, according to a new report released by the FBI. The highest number of incidents (four) occurred in Texas, followed by California and North Carolina, each with two incidents.



In 2024, the FBI designated 24 active shooter incidents in the United States, a 50% decrease from 2023 (48). There were 106 casualties (23 killed and 83 wounded), a 57% decrease from 2023 (244). (FBI)
