Local authorities dealt with two different scenarios Tuesday that involved the discovery of a dead body.
Around 2:00 p.m. Austin Police responded to the intersection of 12th Street and New York Drive where they found a body in the Boggy Creek Greenbelt. Police do not believe the death was from drowning but perhaps natural causes although there’s been no confirmation. (KVUE-TV)
Later, close to 8:00 p.m., authorities were called the Walsh Boat Landing on Scenic Drive for an unknown person floating in the water. Police say was an isolated incident, and there was no known threat to the public. Police are investigating the incident as a deceased person investigation. (KXAN-TV)
No arrests have been made in connection with the “suspicious death” of a juvenile male in a subdivision southeast of Buda.

An 18-year-old man was arrested and charged with murder after police say he sold fentanyl to a 17-year-old woman which led to her death in April. (KEYE-TV)
Back on April 29, a spate of fentanyl overdoses occurred in downtown Austin. When officials declared that overdose “outbreak” over on May 3, 79 people had overdosed in multiple locations across the city. Nine people had died. Months later there have been no arrests made. (Austin American-Statesman)
The Austin City Council officially confirmed the city manager’s appointment of Lisa Davis as the next chief of police during a special-called meeting Tuesday. Davis will begin her tenure next month. (KXAN-TV)
Austin City Council member Mackenzie Kelly had to be rushed to the hospital on Tuesday morning. Kelly was at City Hall at the start of the city’s budget meeting when she had a “medical event” and had to taken to a nearby hospital. (Fox7 Austin)
Austin City Council ended a nearly two-hour session Tuesday without allocating the funding that would be needed to house all of the city’s unsheltered people and those on the verge of becoming homeless. (Austin Monitor)
