Baltimore police responded to two double shootings a little more than an hour apart Sunday night. One incident occurred after 8:30pm in the Southwest District on Mount Street where two men, ages 19 and 22, where found with gunshot injuries. Authorities believe the two were shot on Ramsey Street. The second incident was reported just before 10:00pm in the Western District where an 18-year-old male and a 21-year-old female were injured by gunfire. The shootings happen all over the city: At the Inner Harbor, at parties, at bus stops, at restaurants. Shots ring out near schools and at home. The victims are almost always students or recent graduates. Sometimes they have jobs. Sometimes they’re athletes or artists. All of them are someone’s kid.

Grant funding from the Maryland State Department of Education is allowing Worcester County schools to expand their pre-kindergarten programs. The grant targets the county’s three Title-1 schools which see high percentages of children from low-income families. Those include Snow Hill Elementary, Buckingham Elementary in Berlin, and Pocomoke Elementary schools. (WMDT)

Over the weekend, fire crews responded to a house fire in Mardela Springs. Two dogs and two bearded dragons were rescued from the residence.

The two dogs were transported to a local vet for emergency treatment. The American Red Cross was contacted for a total of seven occupants displaced due to the fire. (Delmarva Now)
