Texas Primary

🏛️ U.S. Senate (Republican)

The biggest race of the night: Ken Paxton has defeated incumbent Sen. John Cornyn for the Republican Senate nomination, per CNN’s projection. Trump endorsed Paxton last week, giving him a last-minute boost in his bid to oust Cornyn, who has been in the Senate since 2003. Cornyn conceded with a brief speech to reporters in Austin, where he pledged to support Paxton in the general election. Paxton will advance to face Democratic nominee James Talarico in November in one of the country’s highest-profile Senate races.

⚖️ Attorney General (Republican)

State Sen. Mayes Middleton has won the Republican primary runoff for Texas attorney general, per NBC News. Middleton, a wealthy oilman who plowed millions of his own money into his bid, ran deeply critical of his opponent, Rep. Chip Roy, over his past breaks with Trump.

Attorney General (Democratic)

Nathan Johnson, the state senator from Dallas, has won the Democratic primary runoff in the Texas Attorney General’s race, defeating Joe Jaworski, the former mayor of Galveston.

🏠 U.S. House – TX-35

Carlos De La Cruz has won the Republican primary runoff for Texas’ 35th Congressional District, and Johnny Garcia has won the Democratic primary runoff for the same seat, per NBC News projections.

Results in other down-ballot races are still coming in. The general election is November 3, 2026.
