Arch Manning’s Historic Six-TD Performance Powers Texas Past Arkansas
Arch Manning delivered the performance of his young career on Saturday, accounting for six touchdowns in every conceivable way as No. 17 Texas dominated Arkansas 52-37 at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.

The sophomore quarterback made history, becoming the first player in Texas program history to record a passing, rushing, and receiving touchdown in the same game. Manning finished with a career-high 389 yards through the air, four touchdown passes, one rushing score, and his first-ever reception—which happened to be a touchdown catch on a perfectly executed trick play.

A Complete Performance
Manning’s day was a showcase of versatility and growth. After connecting with DeAndre Moore Jr. on a 46-yard touchdown to open the scoring, he caught a four-yard score from wide receiver Parker Livingstone on a “Philly Special” style trick play that left Arkansas defenders flat-footed.
Three of his four passing touchdowns went to Moore, while his 54-yard strike to Livingstone in the first half displayed the deep-ball accuracy that made him a five-star prospect.
But perhaps the most impressive moment came early in the third quarter when Manning took matters into his own hands. On a three-yard rushing touchdown, he cut twice to elude defenders before lunging across the goal line, extending Texas’s lead to 31-20 and effectively putting the game out of reach.
“Even going into the game, he feels different in pregame than he did two months ago,” Texas coach Steve Sarkisian said after the victory. “He is playing at a high level at the right time for us.”
Manning’s historic trifecta also made him the first SEC quarterback to record passing, rushing, and receiving touchdowns in the same game since Dak Prescott accomplished the feat with Mississippi State in 2014.
Playoff Implications
For a Texas team that entered the season ranked No. 1 in the country with national championship aspirations, the road has been bumpy. The Longhorns struggled to a 3-2 start and have fallen to 8-3 overall and 5-2 in SEC play. Now ranked No. 17 in the College Football Playoff rankings, Texas faces a win-or-go-home scenario.
The Longhorns must defeat No. 3 Texas A&M on Friday in their regular-season finale to have any chance of making the playoff for the third consecutive season.

Even with a victory in the rivalry game, Texas will likely need help from other results around the conference to secure a spot in the expanded 12-team playoff field.
“The best way we can impress anybody is going and winning next Friday night,” Sarkisian said, setting the stage for what could be the most important game of his tenure in Austin.
Manning’s emergence at the right time gives Texas hope. After early-season struggles with consistency, the quarterback has found his rhythm when it matters most. If he can replicate this kind of all-around brilliance against the Aggies’ vaunted defense, the Longhorns’ playoff dreams remain very much alive.
For one Saturday afternoon, at least, Arch Manning looked every bit like the generational talent he was billed to be—and Texas fans have to be thrilled with the timing.
