Austin City Council meets today, its first meeting since allegations came to light about a former staff member revealing that some council staff are playing constituent “bingo” behind the scenes while constituents are expressing comments and concerns in front of their elected officials.

The allegation suggests that while community members are participating in the public comment portion of city council meetings to share their concerns and feedback with elected officials, some city staff members are treating these public comments as a game, creating what appears to be a “bingo” format to mock or make light of citizen participation.
