Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said in a statement Sunday that Texas is elevating the readiness of DPS troopers and National Guard members around high-risk locations. The action came after U.S. military struck three sites in Iran early Sunday, inserting itself into Israel’s effort to destroy Iran’s nuclear program.
He said that, at this time, there is “no need to worry.”
The United States is warning of a “heightened threat environment” after Saturday’s bombing.
The National Terrorism Advisory System issued the following statement:
“The ongoing Iran conflict is causing a heightened threat environment in the United States. Low-level cyber attacks against US networks by pro-Iranian hacktivists are likely, and cyber actors affiliated with the Iranian government may conduct attacks against US networks. Iran also has a long-standing commitment to target US Government officials it views as responsible for the death of an Iranian military commander killed in January 2020. The likelihood of violent extremists in the Homeland independently mobilizing to violence in response to the conflict would likely increase if Iranian leadership issued a religious ruling calling for retaliatory violence against targets in the Homeland. Multiple recent Homeland terrorist attacks have been motivated by anti-Semitic or anti-Israel sentiment, and the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict could contribute to US-based individuals plotting additional attacks.”
Tesla officially launched its robotaxi service in Austin yesterday, marking a significant milestone for the company’s autonomous vehicle initiative. CEO Elon Musk had announced the service would “tentatively” begin on this date, with select customers able to ride in Tesla’s Model Y vehicles equipped with the company’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) software.
However, the launch appears to be more limited than initially envisioned, as Tesla is operating the service with safety drivers in the passenger seat rather than fully autonomous operations without any humans in the vehicle due to safety concerns.
The service started with about 10-20 Model Y SUVs operating in a limited area under remote human supervision, with Tesla planning to expand to other U.S. states later in the year. The launch faced some regulatory challenges, with Texas lawmakers requesting delays until new autonomous vehicle laws take effect in September, but Tesla proceeded with the planned June 22 debut date.
Austin police are searching for a suspect after a homicide in southeast Austin early Sunday morning.
Early Sunday morning, Austin police responded to a call about an unresponsive man found near the Apple Mart gas station at Wickersham Lane and East Riverside Drive. Officers arrived around 12:35 a.m. and discovered a Hispanic male, estimated to be between 20 and 30 years old, with serious injuries. Despite life-saving efforts by Austin-Travis County EMS, he was pronounced dead at 1 a.m.
The gas station was closed at the time, and the victim was found behind the building. As of now, no suspect has been identified or arrested. This case is being investigated as Austin’s 30th homicide of 2025
At least one person is in custody after shots were reportedly fired at 51st St. and Manor Rd. near a 7-Eleven Sunday evening.

According to the Austin Police Department, the call came in around 7:45 p.m. reporting that approximately 8-10 shots were fired.
No injuries were reported. Police continue to investigate.
Austin firefighters reported to the scene of a structure fire at an abandoned building in Southwest Austin Sunday afternoon.
The call came in around 2:20 p.m. in the 6300 block of West US 290.
