Area firefighters continue to attempt to contain three separate wildfires in Central Texas.

The “North Art Complex” blaze in Mason began Thursday with a lightning strike. It began as three smaller fires that eventually merged into one and has burned more than 4,300 acres. It is currently about 70% contained. So far, no structures have been lost.

A lightning strike is thought to be the cause of a second wildfire, this one in San Saba County, and is called the “Mesquite” fire. More than 110 acres have been affected there with containment said to be at around 65%.

And in Bastrop County, the “Pine Dump Fire” is nearly contained at 80% after burning about a dozen acres.


Authorities arrested a 17-year-old girl this week and accused her of making online threats against a northeast Austin elementary school.
