The head of the Maryland Port Administration has resigned abruptly following a traffic collision back on June 13 in which he is alleged to have left the scene.

Maryland State Police, confirmed that William Doyle was involved in a four-vehicle collision last week on the Jones Falls Expressway in Baltimore.

“Investigators believe three vehicles were stopped in the travel portion of the road at the time of the crash. For reasons unknown at this time, William Doyle, operating a state-issued 2017 white Jeep Cherokee, crashed into a Ford pickup which subsequently caused a chain reaction with the two other vehicles stopped in front of the Ford.”

No one was hospitalized or reported to have sustained any injuries. Doyle allegedly left the scene after the crash but then called police. Maryland State Police contacted Doyle and had him return the accident scene where he was then issued three citations (failure to remain at the scene of an collision involving an attended vehicle, tailgating and failure to control speed to avoid a collision).

Doyle is reported to have resigned back on Friday, three days after the incident.
