Owners of certain Hyundai and Kia car models made between 2011 through 2022 are eligible to receive money for out-of-pocket losses, software upgrades and other reimbursements after a $200 million dollar settlement was reached Thursday stemming from a rash of thefts. The lack of an anti-theft immobilizer in the affected models has allowed for the cars to be easily stolen with as little as a screwdriver and a USB cord. The settlement does not affect Baltimore City’s lawsuit filed earlier this month against the carmakers.
