At least one person has died and four others were hurt after having reportedly suffered overdoses in the area of East 6th Street downtown early this morning.
This all happened at the Buckshot bar and the victims were all bar employees.
One person was treated at the scene. Four others were taken to the hospital where one died.
According to Austin Public Health, nearly 400 overdose deaths occurred in 2024. This year, Travis County EMS has already responded to 484 overdose calls.
All eastbound lanes of SH 71 before Montopolis Drive were closed temporarily last night after an accident. One person reportedly died after being ejected from their vehicle.
