The Travis County clerk said that early voting was a success with just over half of registered voters in the county having already cast their ballots and they’re expecting another 100 to 200 thousand to vote today.
On Monday, the Texas Supreme Court rejected an emergency motion from the Travis County Republican Party that aimed to force the Travis County Clerk to replace election officials at polling sites on Election Day after the party alleged there was an imbalance of Democrat and Republican poll workers.
Some Austin-area counties allow you to vote at any polling location on Election Day.
A 400-acre wildfire that broke out in Bastrop County on Sunday afternoon and forced the evacuation of 60 homes was 50% contained and no longer spreading rapidly.
Showers and thunderstorms brought some relief to the region last night. Most areas saw between a half-inch to more than two inches of rain in places where heavier downpours occurred.
Conditions improve today as cooler, drier air is in place.
Tropical Storm Rafael in the Caribbean will strengthen to a hurricane in the coming days and will eventually emerge over the Gulf of Mexico before delivering heavy rain to part of the United States.
