I had a busy weekend here in the ATX.

Friday night was The Fixx kicking off their new tour at the Mohawk downtown. Great show, great venue. You might know several of their hit songs, most notably “One Thing Leads To Another”.

Saturday morning was the Austin Walk sponsored by the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention of Central Texas.

The route was originally supposed to go through the streets of downtown but Austin Police couldn’t guarantee protection because of the many other events happening in the city (including the Austin Food & Wine Festival) so the walk was contained within the grounds of the state capitol building. One lap around equaled one mile. It provided a good glimpse of the continuing restoration work going on.

Last night, it was open mic night at Comedy Mothership. Always an adventure. There are some naturally funny people out there and a few showed it onstage but many were ill-prepared, had little or no material or were gripped by stage fright.

I get it. Dying is easy. Comedy is hard.

No photos from inside the venue. They force you to secure your phone in a locked container during the show. But here’s a shot outside afterwards…
