Today I visited the Texas Science and Natural History Museum on the UT campus which reopened three weeks ago after more than a year of renovations.
Housed in what used to be the Texas Memorial Museum, the exhibits explore the natural history of the Lone Star state “from the birth of our planet through the age of dinosaurs to present day.”
There are four floors of exhibits and galleries but, to be honest, there were several places that were off-limits. It appears they are still putting together exhibits and displays with almost all of the fourth floor closed with little to see.
It made me wonder why they rushed the opening if everything wasn’t quite ready. I paid full admission (donation?) and was shown maybe three-fourths of what they have to offer.
Still, a cool place to visit. Take the kids to see the dinosaur bones and such even though they won’t understand a lick of the science, nor care.
Avoid parking and use CapMetro. Several routes stop right along the way.
General admission is $10 for adults, $6 for adults 65+ and for ages 5-17.
