I learned today that someone I cared about died of cancer which was expected but still enough of a shock to stop and give me pause.
I’m reaching a stage where I’m losing more and more people that were a big part of my life when I was young and didn’t truly think about mortality and just how quickly life passes.
Seems like every day at work someone remarks, “Wow, is it really [fill in the month/season] already?”

Lately I am getting constant reminders that the clock is ticking and it is not infinite. An impetus to not take the days for granted.

So I’m not.
No slowing down for me as I approach sixty. No consideration of working only part-time or even retirement. No “taking it easy”. It’s going to be more travel, more adventure and more big changes.
You’ll see.
Today’s news was a sobering reminder, though. One I really didn’t need.
Hard life lessons. Wake up calls.
Heed them. They are speaking to you.
